Contact Congress! Advocate for Long-Term Services and Supports in Health Reform Please Contact Congress to Include Long-Term Services and Supports in Health Reform and to Cosponsor the CLASS Act Health reform legislation is being drafted by Congress and is expected to move quickly when they return from their Easter recess on April 20. Your help is needed now to urge Congress to address the greatest unmet care need and coverage gap for America’s seniors – long-term services and supports, often called long-term care. The cost of this care impoverishes thousands of seniors and their families every year and too often home and community services are not available. There is growing momentum for including these services in the bill and an emerging consensus on how to do it. If Congress does not address this problem now, it may be decades before this opportunity arises again.

(StatePoint) We all want our precious photos, documents and news clippings to last a lifetime, if not longer. Preserving your family’s priceless memories and keepsakes needn’t be expensive, especially if you know how to store them.

It’s a sad fact of life, but there are those out there who would want to rob you of your valued possessions and keep or sell them for themselves. Seniors are especially vulnerable in that they are less likely to be able to resist an intruder, and have accumulated more valuables over their lifetime than younger folks. However there are a number of precautions that you can take to minimize your risks.

After a long hard winter in East Central Illinois, the idea of “Springing Forward” sounds very appealing. Picturing long days, more sunshine and no snow is inviting. This year the change was much earlier and springing forward was not so easy. As my three year old stayed up later and I woke to the pitter patter of tiny feet approaching my bedroom earlier each morning similarly some of the Seniors I work with were off schedule as well. Some experienced being unable to sleep, waking early, lack of energy during the day, sleeping through therapy or missing a social appointment.

(SPM Wire) You can avoid headaches at tax time by keeping track of your receipts and other records throughout the year. Good recordkeeping will help you remember the various transactions you made during the year, which in turn may make filing your return a less taxing experience.
